Tour One: Shanghai Walking Tour

Yuyuan GardensOur main route is the perfect introduction to Shanghai. You’ll start on the world-famous Bund, the stage for much of Shanghai’s incredible history, and the best place to view the skyscrapers of the nearby Pudong District. From here, you’ll make your way to lovely Yuyuan Garden and the nearby Temple of the Town Gods, a brilliant introduction to the world of a Chinese temple. You’ll then work your way through traditional streets and alleys to the antiques neighborhood of Dongtai Lu, followed by a quick peek into the fascinating world of the Flower, Bird, Fish, and Insect Market.

At lunchtime, you’ll have your choice of several excellent restaurants, ranging from busy local dumpling joints to elite Shanghainese restaurants serving the best local specialties. After lunch, you will head to the atmospheric streets of the French Concession, where you will stroll leafy boulevards lined with wonderful old colonial buildings. Here you can experience something of the glory days of old Shanghai and perhaps do a bit of shopping in some of the fine boutiques and shops along the route. And if you need a break, you can pop into some of Shanghai’s best teahouses and cafes to be found here in the French Concession.

This is just one of the many routes we offer. We can also work with you to create a truly custom tour that takes into account your special interests and preferences. Just let us know what you want, and we’ll go from there.
